Preschool Assistant Teacher
Status: Non-Exempt - Full-Time, Hourly
Reports to: Youth Director
Starting Wage: $12/hour Based on Education/Experience
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Under the direction of the Youth Director, this position is responsible for assisting with educational activities in a classroom setting, student supervision and classroom management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise and engage children enrolled in Y Preschool and Preschool Fit Kids Program
- Assist lead teacher in implementing daily plans and activities
- Assist lead teacher in setting up age appropriate classroom learning environment
- Supervise preschool Fit Kids staff during program hours and ensure all safety and policy regulations are followed
- Be knowledgeable of children’s daily activities and communicate with parents at pick up
- Maintain that classroom and all areas of work are safe, clean and organized
- Perform program duties, instruction, and direction of programs as schedule
- Adhere to all state, local and YMCA-YWCA health and safety standards and policies
- Maintain compliance with Iowa DHS Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Provide an understanding of the mission of the Marshalltown Y to staff and members
- Promote and represent the mission and core values of the Y in the branch and its programs
- All other miscellaneous duties assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- AA/CDA or currently enrolled in related coursework
- Experience in related field required
- Highly developed organizational skills
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Must possess skills to operate standard office and computer equipment
- Must have high levels of enthusiasm, patience, and concern for all participants
- Must be able to communicate with children, parents, staff and volunteers
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must be able to stand, remain outdoors and maintain continual physical endurance for extended periods of time

Assistant Aquatics Director
Status: Full-Time - Hourly
Reports to: Aquatics Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Aquatics Director at the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing high-quality, member-focused aquatics and fitness programs. Will serve to integrate the two departments together. This full time position will encompass assisting in areas of aquatic. Assist in the day to day operations of the Aquatic department. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Aquatic Director on a daily basis to promote successful operations of the aquatic programs. The assistant Aquatic Director will provide leadership for the accomplishment of the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA missions and character values with the aquatic department.

Lifeguard
The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA is now accepting applications for lifeguards. Qualified applicants need to possess current Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, AED, CPR-Pro, and First Aid. Will pay for training. Lifeguard pay varies with experience. Applications are available online or at the Service Desk.

Group Exercise Instructor
Leverage your passion for fitness to be an integral part of improving the health and well-being of our community. Group exercise at the Y provides exercise classes to persons of a variety of ages and ability levels at various times of day throughout the week and weekend. Positions Needed:
-Enhance®Fitness Instructor
Do you enjoy working with active older adults? Enhance®Fitness is an evidence-based group exercise and falls prevention program to help older adults at all levels of fitness become more active. Instructors are responsible for conducting a safe and fun class according to the Enhance®Fitness programming—Enhance®Fitness program training is provided. Basic group exercise knowledge or certification is encouraged, but not required. Current needs are for a Monday 10:15-11:15am instructor.
-Yoga Instructor
Yoga instructors are responsible for providing a balanced yoga practice for participants of all levels and abilities, including providing appropriate progressions and regressions, and breathing principles. Extensive personal yoga experience, or Yoga certification is required. Current needs are for an instructor with evening or flexible availability.
Aquatics Instructor
Must be certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. Certification may be acquired after hire. Must have prior experience.
Positions Needed:
-Swim Lesson Instructor
Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Instructs in beginning to advanced swimming and safety skills according to age group and class swim level. Provides a quality experience to students and parents. Represents the Y and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.
-Water Exercise Instructor
Responsible for conducting water fitness classes. Provides a quality experience to participants. Represents the Y and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.

Personal Trainer
The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA is currently taking applications for Personal Trainers. Trainers will work with clients to assist them in meeting their goals while ensuring the workout and program design are consistent with good health. Day Camp / Fit Kids Staff
Directly responsible to the Fit Kids/Day Camp Coordinator.
With guidance from the Fit Kids/Day Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision and engagement of Fit Kid/Day Camp participants and parents.
Minimum age requirement is 16 for Fit Kids program and 17 for Summer Day Camp.

Bus Driver
Part-time position for CDL licensed driver to transport children with Y bus to and from Lenihan Intermediate School for Teach Them To Swim program. Opening is 3:30 – 5 p.m., on Monday and Wednesday during the school year. Applicants must enjoy children and also be willing to help with light building duties between driving children to and from the Y.
